Visage-Nico Where aesthetics & science join to improve your life.

It's exciting to think that with today's vast knowlege of science and treatment practices, we can all – men and women and adolescents alike – enjoy the benefits of beautiful skin like no other generation has ever known!

Although the practices of skin care, beautification and anti-aging have existed for over five thousand years, these practices became truly "profesionialized" in 1980 when the aesthetician profession was formally recognized in our society — an event that led to an explosive growth of new treatments and products. If you're interested in a more complete history the evolution and highlights of the aesthetics profession, click on the history chart link below...
History of Aesthetics chart

By the age of eight, my life as an aesthetician had already been influenced by my parents, a mother who was a cosmetologist and a father who was a botanist and owner of a landscaping and nursery business. I knew then that extracts from plants could heal and be used to create creams that could make people more beautiful. As I grew older, I could see how the body is a graceful landscape form that can be smoothed, and for men," scaped," so as to become even more attractive. These fundamentals have influenced my professional growth as a licensed aesthetician, make-up artist, and professional photographer. Many people ask me about the name of my skin care business. As my specialty is facial treatments, I chose the word "Visage" — French for "face" — in the naming of my skin-care practice. The face is our most important link to the world as many of it's features are key to our ability to communicate and to keep in touch with everything around us. The more we appear pleasant and worthy of respect, the more others will be pleasant, supportive and attentive to us.

Today, there can nothing more important than knowing you're being treated by a professional who ascribes to a code of ethical practices. I am a professional member of the respected "Associated Skin Care Professionals," an organization that provides many forms of business and professional services to aestheticians. To be a member, one must pay dues, ascribe to a set of ethical standards and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times. To transgress will lead to a series of professional prohibitions, including rejection from the association.
Review the ASCP Code of Ethics...

For the safety of the public, California has very strict laws governing the profession of aesthetics. We aestheticians must attend approved training programs and be awarded certificates assuring you that we are approved to properly perform the skills of our profession. Today, you'll see a long column of licenses and certificates displayed on the wall of my skin care studio proving that I am properly trained and legally qualified to perform all of the following services:

      • Skin Care (facial, hand-foot, acne/"bacne," blemishes and other treatments)

     • Make-Up (personal, wedding, fashion, photo modeling and more)

      • Facial Care (facial massage, chemical peels, anti-aging and additional treatments)

      • Hair Removal (face and body using sugaring and other techniques)

      • All-Natural Spray Tanning

      • Eye Enhancements (lash extentions and tinting, brow sculpting and more)
